Summer at Margate House
Reimagining a contemporary seaside boutique hotel through a new spirited, stylish irreverent lens.
Our client was Margate House, a contemporary, stylish, jewel-box of a boutique hotel close to the coast in the buzzing centre of Margate. The brief was to create a collection of images to showcase the hotel in a way it had never been imagined before, using Glassette products to enhance the already confident and considered interiors. The hotel owner and team were tired of using the same simple interior shots of their rooms across their website, newsletter and social channels, they really wanted to see their hotel translated through a new lens.
I wanted to bring the heady thrill of being by the sea into the rooms and take the style and comfort of the rooms outside to the beach. By creating a product edit that celebrated the colours, charm and irreverence of life by the sea and creating vignettes inside and outside the hotel with those same products, myself and photographer Stephanie Sian Smith created a dream-like visual story that brought the spirit of the hotel to life. We imagined a banana split for one in the shower on arrival, served on a painted cherry plate. And what if you could sunbathe from your hotel room? Catching rays by the window on ketchup and vanilla cream chequerboard towels. To speak to the covetable interiors of the hotel and focus on the edit I curated for the space, we created a series of images that imagined the decor being so good, you want to take your favourite objects home with you.
